The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award

Sacred Heart College is a registered Duke of Ed Centre, supporting students to engage with the Duke of Ed Framework as part of their broader learning and personal development.

At Sacred Heart College, the Duke of Ed is a voluntary framework that students choose to undertake alongside their existing commitments, both within and beyond school. Students draw on opportunities already available to them — such as sport, service, cultural pursuits, outdoor experiences and skill development — and have these experiences formally recognised through the Duke of Ed Framework.

The College is supported by two accredited Duke of Ed Leaders, who work alongside students to:

  • guide goal-setting and planning
  • support safe and meaningful participation
  • assist with reflection and progression through Duke of Ed Levels

Recognition and Pathways

Completion of Duke of Ed Levels can contribute to Tasmanian Certificate of

Education (TCE) points and provides students with a respected credential recognised by employers, universities and community organisations in Australia and overseas.

More importantly, it recognises the commitment, growth and character developed through sustained effort and service.
